The Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV) said on Thursday that it was not a normal attack since “the hacker did not steal or delete any data in the system.”

The hacker left a message in red saying he had found the website’s protection system was weak and then carried out an attack to warn the cyber security staff of the flaw.

The website was restored at around 10am on Thursday, the CAAV said, adding that operations of Tan Son Nhat Airport were not affected by the incident.

This was not the first time Viet Nam’s aviation industry had been hacked. On July 29, 2016, Vietnam Airlines computers at the check-in areas of Tan Son Nhat and Ha Noi’s Noi Bai airports were hacked, delaying more than 10 flights with some 2,000 passengers.
