VietNamNet Bridge - According to the draft directive of the Hanoi Party Committee, officials and party members are only permitted to invite less than 300 guests, equivalent to 50 tables, to their wedding parties.

They are also not allowed to organize their weddings at five-star hotels or luxury resorts.
This is the content of the draft Directive on the continued implementation of civilized life in the city, which was discussed by the Hanoi Party Standing Committee last Friday.
Accordingly, the Hanoi Party Standing Committee requires party cells, local governments, and social organizations to well implement some tasks such as promoting communication and mobilization of officials and Party members, people to perform a cultural lifestyle, especially in holding weddings.
Officials and party members, especially leaders and managers at all levels must be exemplary in organizing the wedding for their relatives, families with the spirit "formal - healthy - economic".
Accordingly, the number of guests must not exceed 300 people, equivalent to 50 tables. If the groom’s family and bride’s family jointly hold the wedding party, the total number of guests must be less than 600. Also, officials and Party members are not allowed to organize weddings many times, in many days and at 5-star hotels or luxury resorts.
The draft directive was lively discussed. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thach, My Duc District Party Secretary said that Ha Dong District used to apply the regulation that did not allow officials and party members to organize wedding parties with more than 40 tables. At many weddings, veterans appeared to count how many guests for a table. This regulation might affect the weddings.
Mr. Dao Duc Toan, chief of the Hanoi Party Committee Office, said that each official must be self-aware of their responsibilities in the wedding. However, his concern is that the restriction of 600 guests for the joint wedding party of the groom’s and bride’s families would affect one of the two families, who is not an official or a party member.
Hanoi Party Secretary Pham Quang Nghi said that Ha Dong district limited the invited guests with 40 tables, the city’s specified maximum number of 50 tables is reasonable. "Weddings must to be held in ordinary places, in accordance with the general income level of people," Nghi said.
The Hanoi Party Secretary also said that people will monitor the implementation of the provisions of officials. The city does not need to set up a specialized committee to count the people attending weddings.
In addition, the Hanoi Party Standing Committee also called on party members, officials of the central government based in the capital, also perform the regulations on wedding.
