VietNamNet Bridge – A wedding taxi ran straight into a river in Hai Duong city on April 29. Only the driver quickly escaped from the car. Five others sunk into the river with the car.




On April 29, driver Nguyen Van Ky, 38, carried five people, including four women and one man from Hai Phong city to Hai Duong province in a wedding ceremony.

On the way back to Hai Phong, as the road was rough, the driver lost control and drove the car in to a river in Kim Thanh district, Hai Duong province. Only the driver quickly opened the door to escape from the car before it sank into the river.

The five passengers were sunk with the car and died. They include Ms. Cao Thi Vui, 48, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich, 40, Ms. Dinh Thi Van, 37, Ms. Le Thi Van, 26 and Mr. Pham Van Truong, 50. All came from An Duong district, Hai Phong city.

The car was fished out the same day.

On May 2, managers of Vu Gia Taxi Company, which is based in the northern port city of Hai Phong, told VietNamNet that the firm and the driver, Nguyen Van Ky, 38, are negotiating over compensation for families of victims.
