Following are a couple of entertainment and cultural events held in HCMC this weekend.

HCMC Marathon 2018: 105 Nguyen Khac Vien Street, Tan Phu Ward in District 7

The HCMC Marathon 2018 is scheduled for this Sunday morning at 105 Nguyen Khac Vien Street, Tan Phu Ward in District 7 with around 8,000 athletes from 49 countries and territories taking part.  

Organized by Pulse Active, a HCMC-based professional organizer of renowned sport events such as HCMC Marathon, Le Fruit Off-Road Triathlon and Color Me Run, this year’s event features 42km, 21km, 10 km and 5 km runs for amateur and professional participants.

Before the main event, there will be a warm-up day on January 13 to give participants a chance to meet up, interact and participate in activities that can help them ease up and get ready for the run.

In addition, children aged between six and 13 years old can register for the Kid Dash Run as part of the HCMC Marathon 2018 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on January 13 with the goal to assist children to improve their physical training and promote extracurricular activities for young kids.

All the proceeds from this year’s marathon competition, sponsored by Taiwan Excellence, will be donated to the HCMC Association for People with Disabilities and Orphans and the HCMC Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin to give financial support to less fortunate kids, the organizer told the Daily on January 10.

Institute of Cultural Exchanges with France (Idecaf): 28 Le Thanh Ton Street District 1

A French family-themed movie “Les Vacances du petit Nicolas” (better known as “Nicholas on holiday” in English) will be screened at 3 p.m. this Saturday, January 13 at Idecaf, which is promised to bring a fantastic experience to kids.

The movie, directed by French film director and screenwriter Laurent Tirard, is about a great summer holiday of Nicholas in which he has tons of unforgettable memories with his family and gains adventurous experience with his new friends.

Movie tickets are priced at VND50,000 and VND40,000 for students at Idecaf.

Piu Piu Theatre: 97 Hai Ba Trung Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1

French DJ of Moroccan origin Anouar Hajoui, better known as DJ Cut Killer, will arrive in Vietnam to entertain music lovers at Piu Piu Theatre in HCMC’s District 3 this Saturday night as part of his Asian tour.

The 41-year-old has gained international fame as a DJ of French hip hop, who won Best Urban DJ Award at the DJ Awards ceremony in 2011 and was ranked No.1 as the world’s hip hop DJ on the DJ list released in 2012.
