“Annually, there is a special concert held in the morning of January 1 in Vienna, Austria, by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, which is broadcast live in many countries. It is a cultural event welcomed by the world. In Vietnam, we do not have any concert like that. I think we should have such a show on the first day of the lunar year or April 30 (country’s unification day), but September 2 (National Day) is the best. That is the day that Vietnam escaped from the slavery life after nearly a century,” Tuan said.
In Vietnam, classic and chamber music is not very popular. Aiming to honor the true art and popularize this genre of music, VietNamNet has tried its best to hold the VietNamNet concert on annual basis.
According to Ngo Hoang Quan, director of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra wished to organize a similar concert but it could not so it is an honor for the orchestra to perform in “Everlasting Things” concert.
Art manager of the concert, senior composer Duong Thu, emphasized: “We must help the public to be not afraid of classic-chamber music anymore.”
“When I was a child, I climbed up the fence of the Hanoi Opera House to see revolutionary events. Today, when I’m here to enjoy the Everlasting Things concert, I recalled the nation’s revolutionary periods and magnanimous history,” said former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan.
“The Everlasting Things concert brings the audience back to the jubilant atmosphere of revolution, particularly it is held at the Hanoi Opera House where hosted many revolutionary events,” said historian Duong Trung Quoc.
“The concert brings hopes for the return of Vietnamese music,” said art critic Nguyen Thi Minh Thai.
“I wish that the Everlasting Things concert will be always the concert of essential melodies of love for the country,” said poet Viet Phuong.
The media called “Everlasting Things” is a Vietnamese cultural specialty. The concert will return this year with the participation of leading artists: conductor Le Phi Phi, violinists Bui Cong Duy and Xuan Huy, pianist Pho An My, People’s Artist – singer Quang Tho, singers Dang Duong, Trong Tan, Lan Anh, My Linh, Hong Nhung and Nguyen Thao.
