VietNamNet Bridge – Veteran journalist Nguyen Huu Tho, well-known for his investigative articles, died yesterday morning in Ha Noi at 83.

A memorial service will be held this morning (August 14) at the national funeral home at 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street.

Born in 1932 in Ha Noi, Tho joined the war effort in 1945 and began his journalism career in 1957 with the pen-name Huu Tho. His stories were mostly on agriculture and rural affairs.

Tho was a former chief of the Party Central Committee's Commission on Publicity and Education and former editor-in-chief of the Nhan dan (People) newspaper. He was also an assistant of former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh from 2001 to 2006.
