VietNamNet Bridge – Up to four out of five European bands that will take part in the European Music Festival 2010 are Jazz bands.

Germany Jazz band Thärichens Tentett

The festival is one of the most expected annual music events in Vietnam. The festival will bring colourful concerts to the audience in Hanoi and HCM City from November 26 through December 4.

This year, the event is part of cultural activities which mark the 20th relationship between the European Union and Vietnam.

Twenty-two artists from five European countries – Belgium, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain – will join the festival.

Germany contributes half of the European artists. Besides the world leading pianist Heinrich Alper, who will perform in HCM City only, a ten-member Jazz band Thärichens Tentett will perform at the opening ceremony in Hanoi.

Notably, all bands from Germany, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands play Jazz music, a “specialty” of European Music Festivals.

Vietnamese saxophonist Quyen Van Minh and drummer Le Quoc Hung will join the event. Le Quoc Hung will perform with a famous Jazz trio Fabien Degryse, while Quyen Van Minh will join the leading Dutch saxophonist– Yuri Honing.
