Android operating system is believed to continue dominating the market in 2012.
According to Gartner, Android’s market share increased from 22.7 percent in 2010 to 38.5 percent in 2011, while it expects to reach 49.2 percent this year before falling to 48.8 percent by 2015. Gartner has also said that iOS of Apple is now ranking the second on the market with 18.9 percent of market share in 2012.
The speed competition
In 2011, smart phones mostly used dual core with the speed of 1 GHz for each core. Meanwhile, in 2012, the processing speed of smart phones would be twice quicker with quad cores.
The US well known chip manufacturer, Nvidia has introduced Tegra 3 for smart phones which has the processing speed five times higher than due core Tegra.
It’s the time of high grade apps
Some applications, which could not be used for mobile phones because the phones cannot meet the requirements in terms of processing speed and the incapable operating system, would be developed for the next generation smart phones. These may include the apps on online payment on mobile phones, or the controlling with voice.
High resolution screen
Thin mobile phones with large screens of 4 inches and high resolution and high sharpness would be the main tendency for manufacturers to follow when designing smart phones for 2012, which can satisfy the demand for online payment, online games and applications.
iPhone 4S has 3.5 inch screen, 640 x 960 pixel resolution, while Samsung Galaxy Nexus’s 4.65 inch, and 720 x 1280 pixels, and HTC Rezound 4.3 inch with 720 x 1280 pixel.
Low cost smart phones to appear
The appearance of ZTE and Huawei smart phones, together with the development of chip production technology both have allowed to make accessories at lower costs. Besides, the popularity of Android operating system has helped make the production costs of smart phones decrease.
Therefore, every one could dream of becoming affordable for smart phones.
The Vietnamese smart phone market will develop strongly
In 2011, the smart phone market in Vietnam witnessed the rise of Samsung and HTC, as the two manufacturers usually introduced new mobile phone models with the designs and functions suitable to different classes of customers.
In general, newly launched mobile phones always have new features. For example, they have stronger configuration, large and sharp screens, high camera resolution, and the prices are a bit lower than the products of the same kinds offered by other manufacturers.
The smart phone models of Samsung and HTC which were most wanted by customers in 2011, including Samsung S5830, I9003, Galaxy Tab P1000, HTC Wildfire, HTC Desire HD, were all the ones using Android operating system.
The smart phone market in Vietnam is believed not to see big changes. Samsung and HTC would still hold the upper hand. Like the consumers in other countries, Vietnamese consumers also expect new smart phone models from Apple. However, the manufacturer has few products. Meanwhile, the long awaiting has also reduced the eagerness for iPhone 5.
Nokia still has its loyal customers. However, due to the lack of the app stores running on Symbia and Windows Phone operating systems, the manufacturer has lost the opportunity to compete with Samsung in terms of smart phones.
No big changes would occur with the people who live Black Berry – office workers and those, who love hi-tech products. Especially, with the policies to encourage using 3G services launched by mobile network operators, people have paid more attention to Black Berry’s services.
