Hanoi-”Beyond SOUND”: Day 02 – Porta Chiusa

Created by Paed Conca, Hans Koch and Michael Thieke in 2009, PORTA CHIUSA is a clarinet trio with a strong focus on compositions using microtonal and multi-phonic techniques.

In their first tour in Vietnam, Porta Chiusa will bring to Hanoi audiences a variety of compositions in a very pioneering spirit, and a unique style of the trio clarinet with classic origin. The band will also contribute many improvised performances with two young Vietnamese improvised artists, Nguyen Thu Thuy (đàn tỳ bà – stringed instrument) and Nguyen Do Minh Quan (electronic music).

An Art Talk with Porta Chiusa for the public will be hosted at 11:30am, Nov 30 2017 at Puppet Cafe, alley 125 Giang Vo st., Hanoi.

In this concert, Maius Philharmonic brings together the folk sounds of traditional Vietnamese instruments with those from the West to create a new sound, inspiring audiences in the country and introducing them to the world.

The works are inspired by the distinct beauty of each and every region of Vietnam. Maius wants the audience to feel the nature and people of Vietnam through the music played by the young artists.

Hanoi- Exhibition “Vung khong tuong – Utopia Land”

The UTOPIA-LAND exhibition presents artworks of 15 artists from Germany, France, Serbia, the Republic of Korea, India, America and Vietnam. All of the works are the result of five exchange and working weeks of the MAP. Disciplines are varied from painting, sculpture, photography, videography, multimedia, conceptual and public art, to installation and site-specific art.

Type Directors Club Show will bring the essence of art to graphic design enthusiasts at an artistic and professional show. TDC 63 will be held in November and December in Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City respectively as a festival of inspiration and creative ideas, while providing an opportunity to meet with design professionals.

Hanoi- Contemporary Art Exhibition “Du & Doi”

An art exhibition “Du & doi” by artists Ngo Xuan Binh and Le Van Thin, featuring more than 300 artworks created with various media: lacquer, oil, dó paper, and mixed media.

The exhibition focuses on the mental concept of traditionality and modernity with the aim of realising that the world has always been miraculous, loving and brand-new. This is the chance for audience to see and appreciate the artworks by the two artists, as well as preserving and promoting Vietnamese contemporary art to the local and international public.

HCMC-Exhibition “Slices” by Ngo Van Sac

In his solo exhibition, Ngo Van Sac returns to his unique form of wood burn painting as a follow-up to his 2015 exhibition of collage and acrylic on canvas paintings entitled “In Opposite”. With “Slices”, Sac continues the evolution of his wood burn practice with the introduction of more acrylic paint and calligraphy, and through a change in primary subject matter from a focus on self-portraiture to the portrayal of the peoples of Vietnam’s ethnic minority groups. What remains the same are Sac’s working method which demonstrates a mastery of his materials, and the exciting outcomes of his experimentation.
