The Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced a series of events marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day on Sept. 2, with fireworks at five locations among the main highlights.

The displays will run from 9 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. on Sept. 2.

Fireworks will be launched from sites in front of the Hanoimoi newspaper headquarters and Hanoi Post Office; Dua Island in Thong Nhat Park; the F1 racetrack area at the My Dinh National Sports Complex; and Lac Long Quan Flower Garden in Tay Ho Ward.

In the heart of the capital, Hoan Kiem Ward will host a major arts program performed by the Hanoi Cheo Theatre on Sept. 1 and 2. The event will take place at Ba Kieu Temple Flower Garden, in front of the “Determined to Brave Death for the Survival of the Fatherland” monument.

On Sept. 2, arts performances will also be held at the square outside My Dinh Stadium, Thong Nhat Park and Lac Long Quan Flower Garden.

The celebrations will extend to communes farther from the city center. On Aug. 31, Dan Phuong, Minh Chau, Bat Trang and Dai Xuyen communes will host arts programs performed by Hanoi-based theaters.

Phuc Son Commune will host a performance by the Hanoi Drama Theatre on Sept. 2. Earlier, on Aug. 28, the Hanoi Cultural Center and Library will stage a performance for residents in Hoa Lac Commune.

Several high-quality arts programs associated with Hanoi will also be presented as ticketed performances during the holiday period.

On Aug. 26, the Hanoi Cheo Theatre will premiere “Net duyen Cheo Ha thanh” at Dai Nam Theatre, 89 Pho Hue Street.

On Aug. 29, the Thang Long Song, Dance and Music Theatre will present “Chuyen Ha Noi - Mot ngay rat Ha Noi” at 31-33 Luong Van Can Street. On the same day, the Hanoi Cai Luong Theatre will stage “Nguoi con gai Ha thanh” at Chuong Vang Theatre, 72 Hang Bac Street.

Hoa Lo Prison to host meetings with historical witnesses

Throughout August and early September, Hanoi plans to organize around 50 mobile film screenings in communes outside the city center. Another 20 screenings will be held at Kim Dong Cinema and the 2/9 Cinema in Son Tay Ward.

The “Rang ro non song Viet Nam” photo exhibition will run from Aug. 28 to Sept. 6 at the exhibition venue at 93 Dinh Tien Hoang Street. Hanoi Library at 47 Ba Trieu Street will also host a display of books and newspapers for readers.

From Aug. 26 to Sept. 15, two spaces showcasing creative products from traditional craft villages and contemporary handicrafts will open at 45 and 61 Trang Tien Street.

At the Temple of Literature, a range of activities will take place from Aug. 26 to 30, including folk games, arts performances, a reading culture festival, interactive booths and heritage experiences.

Visitors can also take part in the “Dua nghe ra pho” craft experience, the “Tinh hoa dao hoc va Su da luu danh” night tour, the “Doi thoai son mai” lacquer workshop and exhibitions inspired by cultural heritage.

Hoa Lo Prison Relic will organize meetings with historical witnesses, dramatic performances and a themed exhibition titled “Tam son, chi thep.” Two other exhibitions, “But thep, long son” and “Vung ky uc,” will remain open to visitors.

The Hanoi Museum will continue hosting an exhibition on the capital’s master plan and its 100-year vision through Aug. 29. It will also organize the “Lua tren duong ray” discussion, the “Ha Noi trong toi” photo exhibition and hands-on activities featuring traditional crafts.
