VietNamNet Bridge – A 45-year-old man – the owner of a woodworking enterprise in the southern province of Binh Duong – cut a 105mm mortar to collect bronze wires. The mortar exploded and the man was severely injured and lost one arm.
The explosion at the woodworking enterprise in Thanh Hoa B town, Thuan An district in the afternoon of December 26 frightened locals. After the explosion, people found the woodworking enterprise’s owner – Mr. Quach Huu Duc – at the scene, with one arm completely cut off from the body and a severely-injured leg.
The victim was taken to the General Hospital of Binh Duong while his relatives tried to find the lost arm. Due to the fatal injuries, he was transferred to the Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.
The explosion blew off the walls and the roof of the woodworking enterprise.
Thuan An town police collected a lot of shrapnel, which damaged the iron roofs and glass windows of four nearby houses.
The police said that Duc cut a 40cm long mortar to take bronze wires inside to make fire-art items, making it explode.
