VietNamNet Bridge – A 15-minute whirlwind blew away the roof and damaged over 60 houses in Hong Hoa commune of Quang Binh province.

On late afternoon of April 13, a 15-minute whirlwind and hail destructed more than 60 houses and the entire maize area in Hong Hoa commune.

“The whirlwind came suddenly so we could not respond to emergency. All of us tried to seek a shelter. Our house has been destroyed,” says Mr. Lam, a local resident.

According to the local government, the whirlwind blew away the roof of 59 houses, heavily damaged nine and completely destructed three others. Many electronic devices were broken by lightning.

The whirlwind and hail also destroyed 44 hectares of maize. The total losses are estimated at several billion dong (hundreds of USD).

Local authorities are taking action to assist victims.
