In Con Cuong District, a whirlwind, accompanied by heavy rain, caused two houses to collapse, and blew away the roofs of 114 houses yesterday..
In Tuong Duong District, two houses collapsed and 56 others were partly damaged by a whirlwind on Thursday (April 30).
Vice-chairman of the district's People's Committee Vi Tan Hoi said the loss was estimated to be VND1 billion (US$46,500). The committee managed to repair the damaged houses of the affected residents and gave VND7 million ($325) to each family.
Also yesterday, a heavy downpour in the Central Highland province of Lam Dong's Da Lat City caused a landslide that buried a seven-seater taxi.
The landslide took place in the city's Trieu Viet Vuong Street, with soil and rocks totally burying a taxi parked there, after an hour-long rain.
No injuries were reported.
Local authorities managed to retrieve the vehicle.
