The shark measures 1.5 meters in length and around 60 kilograms in weight. It was stuck in the net of fisherman Phan Van Dau, 52.

“I discovered the shark on my net when I checked the net at 4 am. The fish was very strong, so I called other men to escort it to the shore,” Mr. Dau said.

One hour after it was brought to the shore, the fish died. People flocked to the beach to see the animal.

Dau offered the shark for sale at the price of VND10 million ($500). A trader bargained VND6 million ($300) but he did not sell it.

The fish has five pairs of open gills, a character of shark, and is in white color. The sharks that were captured in this area are grey and much bigger. White sharks are the fiercest shark species.

From July 2009 to May 2010, at least six people were bitten by sharks while swimming on the beach of Quy Nhon. Local fishermen caught three sharks, including one of over one ton in weight.
