VietNamNet Bridge – A herd of five elephants trampled crops over the past three days as they searched for food near the centre of Ma Da Commune in the southern province of Dong Nai.
This is the first incidence of elephants attacking the centre of the commune which has caused fear among the locals.
Authorities are currently conducting investigations of the damages in order to support farmers.
Illegal cattle fat, hide unit uncovered
An illegal unit accused of processing the fat and hides of cattle was caught on Monday in Nghia Phuong Commune, central Quang Ngai Province, according to the Tu Nghia District police department.
Owner Doan Thi Kim Anh admitted that her unit processed the fat and hides of around seven cattle per day.
Authorities said the unit caused serious pollution to the surrounding air, land and water resources.
An investigation revealed that the unit, which has been in operation for three years, did not have a business certificate or environmental protection papers.
