VietNamNet Bridge – A woman in Ca Mau province, in southern Vietnam, delivered a child in a toilet. At that moment, she knew about her pregnancy.


The baby was born prematurely, at around 23-25 week old and only 600gr in weight.
However, she was dead on October 17.

This odd case occurred on October 13 for Tran Thi Lien, in Ward 9, Ca Mau city.

Lien had bellyache so she went to restroom where she delivered a baby. The baby was brought to the Ca Mau Pediatrics Hospital for first aid.

Doctors said the baby was born prematurely, at around 23-25 week old and only 600gr in weight. However, she was dead on October 17.

Lien said she did not know that she was pregnant because she still had monthly period. According to doctors, it is highly possibly that the woman’s womb opened wide and having period is the sign of premature birth, but the woman believed that it is period.

This is the woman’s third baby. Her eldest son is 19 and the second son is 11.

In January 1, 2011, an 18-year-old student in Hanoi gave birth without knowing that she was pregnant. She also delivered birth in a toilet. The baby was brought to Bach Mai hospital for emergency aid. Luckily, the baby was 2.9kg and very healthy.
