VietNamNet Bridge – A woman on January 16 delivered a 2.5kg boy in an aircraft of Jetstar Pacific Airlines (JPA) when the aircraft was running on the runway of the HCM City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport.

 

At 11.30 am, January 16, Nguyen Thi Lap, 27, from the central province of Ha Tinh, gave birth to a boy on a flight from HCM City to Vinh City.

 

A JPA representative said that Lap began labor when the aircraft was running to the runway. Flight attendants immediately informed the pilot and the ground service team. The aircraft returned to the platform.

 

However, the woman delivered a 2.5kg boy when the aircraft was on the way back to the platform. The woman and her child were brought to a nearby hospital. Doctors said that the boy was born prematurely but he is healthy. The mother was also healthy.

 

JPA representatives paid a visit to the mother and the child at the hospital. Flight attendants were also rewarded for well supporting the woman during birth.

 

The incident resulted in the delay of some flights. “We are glad to see the mother and her child are safe and healthy,” said JPA representative.

 

This is the first incident of its kind in Vietnam.
