VietNamNet Bridge – A 20-year-old girl is still alive though she has not eaten for three years. The girl has not had a bath for two years.

 

This special girl is named Nguyen Thi Thu Hong, 20, in Ha Binh village, Binh Minh commune, Thang Binh district, the central province of Quang Nam.

 

It was previously rumored that a girl in Quang Nam is still alive even though she has not eaten any food for the past three years. She has only consumed some water. It is also said that this is a girl from the heaven, who doesn’t need food, just the air.

 

When the girl took the veil in a Buddhist temple in Binh Phuc commune, Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province, many unreal stories were rumored about the girl. The local police have investigated and confirmed that the story about this girl is real.

 

However, she went to the Buddhist temple not to become a Buddhist nun.

 

According to VietNamNet’s investigation, the girl named Hong went to a small pagoda in Binh Phuc commune for treatment. She is very weak at present. She can only lie on a bed in a small room behind the pagoda.

 

Hong’s father, Mr. Nguyen Van Sau, 56, a fisherman, told VietNamNet that the girl was very normal at birth. But she then suffered from anorexia. The family has brought Hong to many hospitals but doctors cannot help. Since May 2008, Hong has no longer eaten. She sometimes drinks a little water.

 

According to Sau, since Hong abstained from food, she has not bathed, and just changes her clothes daily.

 

“She didn’t want to take a bath so my wife cleaned her body by wet towels and changed clothes for her. In the last two years, she has refused to be cleaned by wet towels but she is not smelly,” Sau said.

 

On March 7, the pagoda’s chief monk told VietNamNet that Hong was very weak so she was brought to a hospital in Da Nang city.
