VietNamNet’s Quynh Anh and Van Anh discovered the deep world of blind women.
The eyes are the “windows of soul” but the blind women we met don’t lock their souls. They still long for life, love and happiness, even though they face a lot of difficulties in love.
T.H., a member of the Association for Blind People of Hoang Mai District,
Her love story was very beautiful but for three years, her boyfriend’s family opposed their marriage. Her boyfriend loved her very much but he couldn’t lose his family so they broke up.
Diffuculties created by families and society have prevented blind women like T.H from finding their personal happiness.
“It took me a long time to forget him and return to my ordinary life. After that, some men said they loved me but I wasn’t brave enough to open my heart to them. My hope to have a happy family is dwindling now when I’m getting older,” T. H said.
Nguyen Thi T from Vinh Phuc province, also a blind woman, said: “Any woman dreams to have a man to lean on, a house of her own and lovely children. But it is very difficult for me!”
“I met and loved him when I joined a course held for blind people by Vinh Phuc’s Blind Association. I knew at the beginning that our love would not harvest sweet fruits but love was love. We fell in love with each other and said goodbye when the course finished,” she recalled.
“It is difficult for a normal woman to find a good man. It is more difficult for blind women like me,” T. H said.
Duong Bach Yen, a blind woman in Hoang Mai district,
“I lost my sight at the age of 26. At that time, the life was closed to me. But I met him…” Yen said.
However, the blind man she loved was already married. He couldn’t leave his family for her. But Yen didn’t demand anything from him, just a baby.
“I’ve got my daughter and don’t want anything else. I will bring her up!” she said.
Her daughter is six years old now and this is Yen’s only source of happiness.
Yen’s family, friends and neighbors understand her situation and have sympathy with her.
“Yen is a strong woman who makes other people, even men like me, respect her,” said Vu Thuy, vice chair of Hoang Mai district’s Blind Association.
