VietNamNet Bridge – Chinese coach Chen Yun Fat and his team left Hanoi at 4.15pm on May 12 and arrived at Amman (Jordan) at 5pm of May 13 after two stopovers in Bangkok (Thailand) and Dubai (UAE).
The purpose of the trip to Amman is to become familiar with the weather conditions in West Asia before entering the Asian Cup qualifier in Bahrain. The team will have two friendly matches against the national team of Jordan on May 16 and 18. Through the games, coach Chen Yun Fat will complete his tactical plans.
One of the issues before entering the Asian Cup qualifiers is a lack of information about the competitors, especially the rival in the first game - the host Bahrain. In the last games against Jordan, Bahrain drew both games with 2-2 and 0-0. Meanwhile, the level of Jordan is considered the same to Vietnam because in the two friendly matches in Hanoi, they lost a battle and drew another.
At the Asian Cup qualifiers, Vietnam will face Bahrain on May 22, Kyrgysztan on May 24 and Hong Kong on May 26.
The goal of Coach Chen Yun Fat is to win a ticket to the World Cup so the team must rank first in its group. Therefore, the team must not lose any game and must play well right from the first match.
The biggest concern of the coaching staff is the lack of connection between the old and the new generations. While veterans like Kim Hong, Le Thi Thuong, Ngoc Anh, Kim Tien are passing their peak, the younger generation has not been fully mature. The performance of strikers is also a problem. In the second friendly games against Jordan, the team scored only two goals by Nguyen Thi Lieu and Huynh Nhu. In the three friendly matches against the national U14 team, the team scored just two goals.
Currently, Coach Chen Yun Fat is using striker Minh Nguyet besides one of the strikers Nguyen Thi Nguyet, Nguyen Thi Hoa or Huynh Nhu. Minh Nguyet is an experienced player, with good form and good speed but since she was trained as a midfielder, her “attacking” skills are not good. The remaining strikers are the new so they lack experienced in international games.
In addition, the defense line is also in trouble because of the absence of Chuong Thi Kieu. These are the issues that Coach Tran Van Phat has to resolve in a week of training in Jordan before going to Bahrain.
