According to Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code, employees in Vietnam are entitled to 11 public holidays with full pay.

These include New Year’s Day, the Lunar New Year (Tet), Victory Day, International Labor Day, National Day, and the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day.

The holiday schedule for 2025 provides workers with several extended breaks. For New Year’s Day, which falls on Wednesday, January 1, employees will receive one full day off with pay.

The Lunar New Year break offers an extended holiday period from January 25 to February 2, 2025. This includes the five official Tet holidays and four adjacent weekend days, totaling nine consecutive days off.

The Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day in 2025 falls on Monday, April 7. This allows workers a three-day break when combined with the preceding weekend.

For Victory Day on April 30 and International Labor Day on May 1, public servants and workers will have a continuous five-day holiday from April 30 (Wednesday) to May 4 (Sunday). This is made possible by shifting a workday from Friday, May 2, to Saturday, April 26.

National Day on September 2 offers another long break. Workers will enjoy a four-day holiday from August 30 (Saturday) to September 2 (Tuesday), combining two public holiday days with the weekend.

Foreign employees in Vietnam are entitled to additional days off, including one for their country’s traditional New Year and another for their National Day.

The extended holiday schedule in 2025 provides workers ample time to relax, celebrate, and spend with family, reflecting the government’s efforts to balance work and leisure for citizens.
