Under current regulations, employees are entitled to paid leave on Hung Kings Commemoration Day (the 10th day of the third lunar month), April 30 and May 1.

In 2026, Hung Kings Commemoration Day falls on Sunday, April 26. As it coincides with a weekend, employees will receive a compensatory day off on Monday, April 27. Including the weekend, the holiday lasts three days from April 25 to April 27.

Immediately afterward, April 30 and May 1 fall on Thursday and Friday. For those working a schedule that includes Saturdays and Sundays off, this creates a four-day break from April 30 to May 3.

The gap between the two holiday periods is just two working days. If employees use two days of annual leave during this interval, they can take continuous leave from April 25 to May 3, totaling nine days.

According to the Labor Code, the annual leave schedule is determined by employers after consulting employees. Workers may also negotiate unpaid leave if approved by their companies.
