VietNamNet Bridge - Workers at all non-state run enterprises and organizations will enjoy a minimum wage increase of up to VND370,000 (US$18.5) per month as of next year.
The salary increase will apply to employees working for businesses split into four regions as of January 1st, 2011 and July 1st, 2011 under two decrees issued recently by the government.
The minimum monthly salary for workers in region one that includes Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, will increase by between VND210,000-370,000 ($10.5-18.5) and workers in the three remaining regions will receive a bump of between VND100,000-320,000 ($5-16).
The salary adjustment will help raise the minimum salary level for workers from foreign-invested businesses to between VND1.1-1.55 million ($55-75) against the current level of VND1-1.34 million (50-67) per month.
Workers at domestic businesses and organizations will receive an increase of between VND730,000-980,000 ($36.5-49) per month to VND830,000-1.35 million ($41.5-67.5).
