On October 5, 2024, the internationally acclaimed Bond Quartet will hold a charity concert in Hanoi, with all proceeds from ticket sales directed to aid communities affected by Typhoon Yagi.

This event, "Bond Live In Vietnam," marks the second edition of the 'Good Morning Vietnam' project, organized by Nhan Dan (The People) Newspaper in collaboration with IB Group.

At the press conference held on September 11, Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper and Chairman of the program’s steering committee, emphasized the dual importance of the concert. Not only will it showcase the best of global music, but it will also contribute to a humanitarian cause.

"The success of last year’s Kenny G Live In Vietnam concert laid the groundwork for this year’s Bond performance," Minh stated. "We are confident that this event will be equally well-received by music lovers across the country."

The concert will take place at the National Convention Center in My Dinh, Hanoi, offering the Vietnamese audience a chance to experience the magic of Bond’s music. Proceeds from the event will go directly to support relief efforts for communities affected by Typhoon Yagi, which caused severe damage in various parts of the country.

Although Bond has visited Vietnam twice before, this will be the first time the string quartet performs a standalone concert in the country. Known for their energetic blend of classical and modern music, the quartet’s unique style incorporates elements of rock, pop, Latin, jazz, and even Indian and Western influences. Their signature sound, often compared to the work of violin virtuoso Vanessa-Mae, has earned them fans worldwide.

Duong also noted the logistical challenges involved in organizing the event, given the quartet’s busy global schedule. However, he expressed confidence that the concert would leave a lasting impression on Vietnamese audiences, just as previous international acts like Kenny G have done.

Bond, composed of Tania Davis (violin), Eos Counsell (violin), Elspeth Hanson (viola), and Gay-Yee Westerhoff (cello), has been a global sensation since their formation in 2000. Over the past two decades, the quartet has sold over five million albums worldwide, cementing their status as one of the most successful string ensembles in the world. Their iconic tracks such as "Victory," "Shine," and "Explosive" have captivated audiences with their fusion of classical and contemporary music.

The upcoming concert in Hanoi will feature 20 compositions, with some pieces specially revamped for the event. The organizers are keeping the setlist a surprise, but Le Quoc Minh teased that "Victory" would be one of the highlights. In addition to the concert, Bond will also film a music video at a famous Vietnamese landmark as part of a larger promotional campaign for Vietnam’s cultural heritage.
