Sulimsky will work alongside the Sun Symphony Orchestra to present a special New Year concert, according to organisers.
Also on the programme will be the delightful Carnival Overture of Dvořák and his beloved Symphony No. 9 "From the New World", both of which were composed within the same period as the Biblical Songs and representing a prolific era of masterpieces written by the composer.
Vietnamese soprano Dao To Loan will also perform at the concert while singing special songs composed by Van Cao.
Sulimsky is one of the leading singers in the world. In 2010 he won first prize in the International Giacomo Lauri-Volpi Competition in Italy. Following his performance of Prince Kurljatew in Tchaikovsky’s Charodeyka (Enchantress) in Christof Loy’s production at the Theater an der Wien in 2014, Sulimsky gained plenty of international attention.
In the summer of 2018, he made his debut at the Salzburg Festival as Tomsky (Pique Dame) under the baton of Mariss Jansons, followed by Count Luna (Il trovatore) at the Berlin State Opera, Jago (Otello) at the Vienna State Opera, and his role debut as Scarpia (Tosca) at the Malmö opera.
He also performed at the Munich State Opera with Count Luna and finally Macbeth in 2023 as part of the Barrie Kosky production at the Salzburg Festival.
