The facility, which is set to open on May 21, is the company’s first in Southeast Asia.

Vietnam is the biggest beer market in Southeast Asia. In recent years, the domestic brewing industry has grown 13% a year on average, and according to the Vietnam Beer, Alcohol and Beverage Association, in 2013, the country’s total beer consumption hit 3 billion liters and 3.14 billion liters in 2014, an increase of 8% compared to 2013.

According to Ricardo Vasques, General Director of AB InBev Vietnam, the new brewery is demonstrative of the company’s commitment to creating a strong presence in this rapidly growing market.

“Vietnam is an incredibly vibrant and dynamic market to be working in, and we are absolutely thrilled to be opening a new state-of-the-art brewery here—our first in Southeast Asia,” says Vasques.

“We will be well positioned to service both the local market with the freshest, consistent superior quality beer, as well as explore the potential of other countries within the region. In this regard, Vietnam is central to our operations in Southeast Asia.”

Recent years have seen an increasing variety of beers appear in the local market as consumers’ tastes change and beer lovers look for more international flavors. This fact, says Vasques, underscores the company’s strategy moving forward.

“There is absolutely no doubt that, in addition to growing in volume, the beer market in Vietnam is evolving in character as consumers seek out new and more premium experiences,” Vasques says.

“It’s clear that the time is ideal for us to broaden our range in Vietnam, giving beer lovers the opportunity to enjoy beverages from around the world, whether they’re at their local bar or club, or they’ve picked up a few drinks from the supermarket to take home.”

AB InBev is also renowned globally for its commitment to the communities in which it operates through a range of CSR measures, including environmental sustainability initiatives and safe alcohol consumption campaigns.

“It is our dream to be the Best Beer Company Bring People Together For a Better World. Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is an important part of this,” says Vasques.

“In addition to building our presence here through the launch of this brewery, we will be continuously working to improve the community, whether through providing jobs and training to local workers, employing the latest environmentally friendly production techniques, or working to educate consumers on the safe consumption of alcohol.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time for AB InBev in Vietnam - and we are looking forward to taking the community along with us as we take these steps into the future.”
