VietNamNet Bridge – Nguyen Thi Lua of Vietnam has been defeated by Olympic defending champion Carol Huynh, a Vietnamese-Canadian, in the women’s 48kg category at the Summer Olympics being held in London.

She lost 5-0 to Carol Huynh, who proceeded into the semi-final round where she was trounced by Japanese competitor Hitomi Obara.

Lua’s loss had been predicted for the event, despite her great efforts in training. Lua had faced difficulties in making preparations for the world’s largest sporting event as coaching resources were limited and she couldn’t afford to train overseas.

Viewers can look forward to seeing Vietnamese athlete Duong Thi Viet compete in the high jump on August 9.
