VietNamNet Bridge – Nguyen Nhat Anh, who is known for long stories for teenagers, has left Vietnam for Thailand to receive the ASEAN Literature Award 2010 for his book “Give me a ticket back to childhood”. 

 

 

 

 

The novel, wittily combining the wonderful and vivid childhood memory and the real life of adults, has received positive reviews from local writers and critics. It received an award from the Vietnamese Writers’ Association in 2009.

 

The ASEAN Literature Award, introduced in 1979 by the Thai Royal Family, aims to honour ASEAN’s popular writers and poets.

 

Since 1996, the award has honoured 13 Vietnamese writers, namely To Huu, Ma Van Khanh, Huu Thinh Nguyen Khai, Nguyen Duc Mau, Nguyen Kien, Bang Viet, Do Chu, Phu Tram, Le Van Thao, Tran Van Tuan, Nguyen Ngoc Tu and Cao Duy Son.

 

Anh, 55, is an author of incisive stories for both teenagers and adults. He also works as a teacher, a poet and a correspondent. He has produced a large number of works, including approximately 24 short stories, 2 novel series and some collections of poems. He is regarded as one of the most successful writers for teens. His most well-known novel Kính Vạn Hoa (Kaleidoscope) which contains 45 volumes, has recently been made into 4 drama series underf the same name. Nguyen Nhat Anh is his pseudonym?

 

His latest story “Give Me a Ticket Back to Childhood” was the best-selling novel at the 5th HCMC book fair, with over 15000 copies sold out within 10 days.
