Wushu artists to train in China for Southeast Asian Games

The national wushu team will head to China tomorrow (April 26) for training in preparation for the coming Southeast Asian Games.

The one-month course will take place in Shanghai and Xi An cities.

Viet Nam will send 14 wushu athletes to compete in Singapore in June.

Among the 14, 12 belong to Taolu (a performance discipline) group that includes defending champion, Duong Thuy Vi.

The wushu events will take place on June 6-8 at the Expo Hall 2 during the Games.

Tai grabs 14th stage of HCM City Television Cycling Cup

Nguyen Truong Tai won the 14th stage of the 27th HCM City Television Cycling Cup yesterday (April 24), with an outstanding performance.

Tai of VUS-HCM City won the 48km-long stage around Tran Phu Road in Nha Trang City with a time of 59min 40sec.

He seized the yellow jersey from Nguyen Minh Viet of BTV Binh Duong for the best overall time of 36:47.10 after 14 stages.

Other individual awardees remained unchanged. Nguyen Tan Hoai of Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap won the red jersey for being ‘King of Mountain' with 13 points, while the green jersey for the best sprinter went to Le Van Duan of VUS-HCM City with 77 points.

In the team rankings, Gao Hat Ngoc Troi An Giang took the lead with a time of 108:19.56, followed by Military Zone 7 and Dong Thap.

Tomorrow, cyclists will compete in the 129km 15th stage from Nha Trang to Phan Rang-Thap Cham City.

Huy and Tram take national chess championships titles

Nguyen Van Huy and Hoang Thi Bao Tram triumphed at the National Chess Championships, which close today in HCM City.

Huy from Ha Noi took the men's title with one game to spare. The master collected 8.5 points after 10 rounds, setting up a two-point gap with the nearest rival, Hoang Canh Huan of Da Nang.

In the last round, Huy will play Nguyen Van Thanh, another master from Da Nang City, but the stakes are just pride.

On the women's side, Tram of Ha Noi also cinched the crown before the last match.

Tram earned 6.5 points, one more than Tran Le Dan Thuy of Ben Tre sitting in second.

Today, Tram will play Ton Nu Hong An of Quang Ninh. Whatever the result, she will walk away with the gold medal and a berth in the national team.

Sanna Khanh Hoa win maiden national futsal title

Sanna Khanh Hoa triumphed at the National Futsal Championships in HCM City's Phu Tho Gymnasium on Thursday.

They defeated title candidate Thai Son Nam 6-2 in the last match to win the title for the first time.

"Khanh Hoa has won the national futsal championship title for the first time since its establishment six years ago. This victory was the result of hard work of the whole team. My players had a wonderful match," Khanh Hoa coach Dang Dinh Khang said.

Khanh Hoa also won the fair play award, while captain Thanh Dat was declared the best player.
