The annual programme will include a ceremony to offer incense and flowers to Hung Kings, a trip in Metro Line No.1 Suoi Tien-Ben Thanh and exchanges with localities.
OVs will attend a seminar spotlighting Resolution No.98/2023/QH15 on a number of special mechanisms and policies for the development of Ho Chi Minh City, and join a city tour on February 1.
On February 2, participants will offer incense to President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang, and engage in the traditional ritual of releasing carps. They will also pay a courtesy call to leaders of HCM City and tour the headquarters of the municipal People’s Committee.
They will be received by leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, during which outstanding OVs will be honoured. Leaders of HCM City and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold a banquet for them.
The highlight of the programme is a meeting between the OVs and State President Vo Van Thuong, and an art programme on February 2 night, which will be broadcast live on the Vietnam Television channels 1 and 4, and Ho Chi Minh TV (HTV).
First held in 2008, the “Xuan Que Huong” programme has attracted a large number of OVs from all over the world, becoming an awaited event for them in Tet.
Last year, the art exchange held in Hanoi on January 14 within the programme drew more than 3,000 delegates, including 1,000 OVs./.VNA
