The Red River Delta Biosphere Reserve, home to a large number of water and migratory birds, is a typical rivermouth wetland ecosystem in the north of Vietnam.
Xuan Thuy National Park is the first wetland in Southeast Asia to participate in the 1989 Convention on Wetlands of International Importance, known as RAMSAR.
Xuan Thuy National Park in the northern province of Nam Dinh is located in the south of the Red River mouth, about 150km from Hanoi capital city. It covers an area of 7,100 hectares.
Enlisting community participation in caring for important ecological areas is one of the more effective strategies in protected area management. With the participation of the women, healthy mangrove forests are translating to better resilience.
Nam Dinh Province may have fascinating landscapes such as Quat Lam Beach or Xuan Thuy National Park but it is more famous for being the land of scholars and specifically the birthplace of late Party General Secretary Truong Chinh.
