VietNamNet Bridge – Doctors of the Hanoi-based St. Paul Hospital has cut off a tumor of over 2 kilos on the back of a 23-year-old girl from the northern province of Vinh Phuc.
Doctor Pham Thi Viet Dung, from the hospital’s Plastic Surgery Ward, said that the patient was hospitalized with a big green black on her back, which made her backbone curved. The girl was only 30kg in weight.

Doctors defined that the girl suffered from neuroma, which grew as big as a camel’s hump. The big tumor caused curved backbone and deformed rib-cage, which prevented normal breathing.

Despite difficulties in anesthetics, doctors successfully removed the huge tumor. The patient recovered and left the hospital last week.

Doctors said that if the tumor is not removed, it will keep growing.

The St. Paul hospital has performed many similar operations.

According to the patient’s family, the tumor developed from a small and flat mole at birth. The girl was brought to many hospitals but they all refused to perform surgery. In the last 20 years, the girl could not lie or walk normal.
