VietNamNet Bridge – Doctors of HCM City-based Trung Vuong Hospital have detected a 2cm screw in the brain of man in HCM City. This is a very occasional case, doctors said.

The patient was hospitalized last week for a serious headache. An X-ray scan discovered a screw on his brain.

Trung Vuong Hospital’s Dr. Tran Quang Thang, said that the screw was on the top of his temple. “I don’t understand how this screw could go through skull to enter the patient’s brain,” Dr. Thang said.

The patient told doctors that he suffered an accident, which caused head injury 20 years ago. “Since then I have sometimes had headache,” the man said.

Dr. Thang said that this is a very special case, the first he has witnessed in his life.

Being warned by doctors of serious complications if he does not have an operation to take out the screw, the patient was determined to leave the hospital to seek another way of treatment.

“Some people believe that they are bewitched with something in their body so they go to see wizards, but this kind of treatment is dangerous,” Dr. Thang said.
