After a two-hour surgery in the afternoon of September 9, doctors removed a 4.5 cm long needle from Ha’s heart. The patient was transferred to the recovery room for recovery, in stable health. It is expected that after a week the patient can leave the hospital.

The accident happened on September 7. According to the patient's family, Ha unfortunately lied on a needle and it pierced the chest. Then, finding his chest with swelling and severe pain, the boy went to the provincial hospital for examination and was transferred to the Vietnam-Germany Hospital in Hanoi.

Doctor Nguyen Xuan Vinh of the Chest and Cardiology Ward of Vietnam-Germany Hospital said the patient was hospitalized with chest pain and a very small wound in his left chest. The doctors had a consultation and decided to conduct an open heart surgery immediately. Without a timely surgery, when the heart contracts, the needle will puncture the patient’s heart. If the needle goes out of the heart into the blood vessels, it is very dangerous because it is very difficult to find the needle.

According to Nguyen Huu Uoc, Head of the Chest and Cardiology Ward, when opening the heart area, the patient's heart was torn. After two hours of surgery, doctors removed a 4.5 cm long needle. Previously doctors saved patients with a needle in their joints or blood vessels but this is the first time they saw a needle in the heart.

Doctors of the Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital in Quang Binh province recently took out a half of a needle of about 3 cm long from the neck of a man. Earlier, this man’s wife sewed clothes for their baby and forgot the needle in a towel. When the man used the towel after bath, the needle punctured his neck.

The doctors recommend that needles are very sharp so they can easily enter the body, passing through the skin very gently, without causing much pain. Depending on the movement of the body, it can be moved to many different organs so it is difficult to gets it out from the body.
