VietNamNet Bridge – The current meals of Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, Vietnam’s young talented swimmer, in Florida, USA are huge. She has to eat one kilogram of beef, 50 shrimps, a big plate of noodles, a salad plate, nearly one liter of fresh milk, not to mention fruits in a single meal.

This menu is certainly different and far beyond that of any athlete of Vietnam and it approaches the standard for the greatest swimmer in history - Michael Phelps. It was suggested by Vien’s American experts based on the actual characteristics of the body and the needs for exercise.

Only with such food, can Vien ensure enough power at approximately 4,000 calories to maintain daily workouts of 6-7 hours at high intensity. But it is uneasy to eat such a huge amount of food, especially for a girl. To be able to eat in a professional way, Vien used to eat and cry at the same time, and had to have break a few times during a meal.

Vien’s coach – Mr. Dang Anh Tuan said that Vien’s exercises are enhanced and her rations are also increased. He will have a headache to find ways for Vien to adapt well to it.

So far, only a few swimmers of Vietnam have had their own coaches, and they only have one coach, but Vien has up to three coaches at the St. Augustine Club in USA, including Tuan and two American coaches. In particular, one coach is in charge of expertise, one is the specialist in physical strength and Tuan is managing coach.

With the power of this trio, Vien has a methodical, thorough and scientific development process in all respects, which is reflected in a coherent way.

Also thanks to her rare qualities, her will and hard work, Vien can always meet the highest level of professional training and fitness in accordance with the standards of the leading young swimmers in the world.

Apart from private practice time, Vien also practices and competes with the club's outstanding athletes, both men and women of various levels and different schools.

Many people really enjoy seeing Vien do backstrokes with a glass of water in the middle of the forehead, and it does not tilt at all. This is a vivid testament to the wonder and hard work of Vien, with the goal of forging the body and posture to ensure the strict requirements of the backstroke, which is a key content.

According to international experts, Vien is one of few women with the best backstroke technique in Asia, besides the ideal body indexes.

At the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar this month, Vien aims to win two gold medals in the women’s 200m backstroke and 400m individual medley.
