VietNamNet Bridge – Young musician Thanh Vuong won Song of the Year - the most important prize of the Vietnamese Song 2011 competition - in HCM City on the evening of February 19.


Thanh Vuong wins The Best Song of the Year award.


His song, entitled “Winter Memory,” was recognized as The Song of the Month last November. In that show, for the first time all three guests and seven judges agreed to present the Song of the Month title to “Winter Memory.”

Thanh Vuong was born in a family of art. He joined music training classes when he was a little boy. He has a great passion for Jazz, especially Funky. Vuong impressed the audience at the Vietnamese Song for the first time, with two songs entitled “Song of Love” and “Afternoon Street” in 2008. So far, he has won over ten of prizes of the Vietnamese Song competitions.

Thanh Vuong is the fifth male songwriter who won the Song of the Year award. In 2009, Nguyen Xinh Xo was the winner, with the song “Clock”, Luu Ha An with “Stork” in 2007, Nguyen Thien Thanh with “Wind Chime” in 2006 and Le Minh Son with “A i a” in 2005.

Female songwriter Thai Trinh was presented with the “Promising Songwriter” and “Song Voted by Producers” for “Stand Still”. This is the first time Thai Trinh participated in the Vietnamese Song competition.

The Most Favorite Song prize was given to Nguyen Viet Phuong and Vo Duc Cuong’s “Almond Tree.”

The Most Favorite Singers are Uyen Linh (Vietnam Idol 2010) and Trung Quan.


The Creative Prize was presented to Nguyen Vinh Tien’s “ My Mother”
and Nguyen Duc Cuong’s “Quiet Towns.”


The Song Voted by the Press belonged to Duong Cam’s “Return to You.”

Musician Thanh Tam won the prize for the best music arranger. Thanh Tam also received the Dedication Awards, besides musician Hoai Sa.

All 16 songs entered the final night of the Vietnamese Song 2011 were written by new authors, who are very young. These songs are the best of 63 songs that were introduced in seven shows in 2011.
