Three Vietnamese prodigies named Le Phuong, Pham Thanh Thao and Tran Bao Tran have won high prizes at the 7th Mozart International Piano Competition in Thailand.

Young prodigy Pham Le Phuong wins first prize at the competition



The competition took place from July 22-25 in Thailand, with young candidates from Singapore, Indonesia, China, the Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam and the host, Thailand. 

10-year old Pham Thanh Thao, took first prize in her age group category (10-12), while 9 year-old Tran Bao Tran placed third in hers (7-9).

A major highlight was 12 year-old Pham Le Phuong who took first prize in table A (for candidates aged 18-24). Phuong is now studying piano at Vietnam National Academy of Music with the assistance of Dr Dao Trong Luyen.

Le Phuong surpassed 10 candidates to win victory in the final round. She played the selection Piano Concerto No.23 in A major K.488 by Mozart.
