In a stunning display of talent, young singer Kieu Oanh from the central province of Ha Tinh won the gold cup at the Asia Arts Festival 2024, held in Singapore from July 15 to 21. Her exceptional performance of the Aria "Quando Me'n vo" left a lasting impression on the judges and audience alike.
The Asia Arts Festival 2024 attracted musical talents from 22 countries across Asia, with over 1,000 contestants competing in various categories. Despite coming from a family without an artistic background, Oanh was inspired by her father’s love for music, which ignited her own passion.
“From a young age, I loved singing and was determined to pursue a career in music,” Oanh shared.
At just 17, Oanh gained admission to the Vietnam National Academy of Music and later continued her studies at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music under the mentorship of Meritorious Artist Pham The Vy, Head of the Vocal Department. Her rigorous preparation, including three months of intense practice, culminated in her triumph at the festival.
“Winning the gold award exceeded my expectations. I am extremely happy with the result,” Oanh expressed.
Ha Tinh, Oanh’s hometown, is renowned for its sweet, lyrical folk songs. Her performance of these traditional tunes showcased her deep connection to her roots and contributed to her victory.
Industry experts have praised Oanh for her classical yet fresh performance style, which brought a youthful vibrancy to her repertoire.
“I dedicate this award to my family, teachers, friends, and especially the Vietnamese audience who supported and encouraged me,” Oanh said.
