The fifth edition of the film festival will consist of 76 short films selected from nearly 200 films submitted to the festival from five continents in the world. With the theme Dreamers, YxineFF 2014 lures the participation of quite many young filmmakers.

In the category International Competition, the festival will include 12 films from 10 countries, including Brazil, the U.S., Spain, France, South Korea, the Philippines and Vietnam among others. These films will tell viewers the nature of dreams, and those people who dare to follow their dreams.

Meanwhile the category Local Competition gathers 11 young directors mainly from Hanoi and HCMC. Each of these films raises a question about the meaning of human existence and about the ever-changing nature of life.

As in previous years, Panorama will exhibit various portraits of young filmmakers. This category focuses on and encourages works that have fresh ideas and new ways of expression. There are 13 films in this category representing dreams and thoughts of young people about their conflicts in life.

The In Focus will present 11 film programs, divided into different themes: Experimental Dreams, Nightmare, Viddsee, with the participation from Israel, Spain, Malaysia, Argentina and filmmaking workshops of Doclab and Toto.

Also, YxineFF marks its five-year journey by the program Love, Believe, Individual, Choice and a special program on the topic of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.

Vietnamese and international audience can watch films of YxineFF 2014 online from September 19 to December 1 at www.yxineff.com.

YxineFF, a voluntary, non-profit and independent project, receives support from many organizations, companies and individuals, including the Danish Cultural Development and Exchange Fund, the Goethe Institute Vietnam, British Council Vietnam and the U.S. Consulate General in HCMC.
