“Zero Meets Hero” continued its unbeaten run at the Vietnamese box office over the weekend, while “Len huong,” featuring “Red Rain” actress Ha Anh, is preparing to hit theaters.
There was little change in the box office rankings over the weekend, with Zero Meets Hero, The Last Secret of the First Emperor and Quy tu vuot giau all holding firm in the top four.
Huynh Lap’s Zero Meets Hero, released on Aug. 21, has maintained an extraordinary box office run for more than three weeks. The film has remained No. 1 in theatrical revenue for 24 consecutive days despite the arrival of numerous new releases. According to Box Office Vietnam, as of the morning of Sept. 7, Zero Meets Hero had surpassed VND193 billion ($7.34 million) and is expected to reach VND200 billion ($7.6 million) on Sept. 9.

Quy tu vuot giau, produced by husband-and-wife duo Thu Trang and Tien Luat and released on Aug. 28, currently ranks second at the box office. Directed by Nguyen Quang Dung, the film is a remake of the hit Chinese movie Successor and has now grossed more than VND50 billion ($1.9 million).
The South Korean blockbuster Hope: Vung tu dia holds third place. Meanwhile, The Last Secret of the First Emperor, which had a production budget of more than VND100 billion ($3.8 million), continues to struggle at the box office despite the release of a new cut shortened by 20 minutes.
The film currently ranks fourth, with revenue of VND33 billion ($1.25 million). The Last Secret of the First Emperor would need to gross between VND180 billion and VND200 billion ($6.84 million-$7.6 million) to break even, a target that now appears virtually impossible with two new Vietnamese films arriving in theaters this weekend.

Len huong is the latest family drama from director Khuong Ngoc, who previously made his mark with the box office hits The Real Sister and Cuc vang cua ngoai.
Drawing on the practice of “sleeping in a coffin to seek good fortune,” the film explores different facets of Vietnam’s modern funeral industry as well as several other traditional professions.
Len huong stars People’s Artist Hong Van, Hong Dao, Vo Tan Phat and Ha Anh, known for her role as O Hong in Red Rain. The film will hold preview screenings on Sept. 11, 12 and 13 before its official theatrical release on Sept. 18.
Also arriving on Sept. 11 is Chrysalis, previously titled Chiec ken, a film that has already made an impression at the Los Angeles Tribune International Film Festival (LATIFF) and DANAFF 2026.
The movie tells an emotional story of family bonds and separation against a turbulent historical backdrop. Chrysalis follows Daniel, a young man searching for fragments of his lost memories as he confronts family, loss and the farewell he never had the chance to say.
The film has also attracted attention for featuring actress Kieu Chinh.
