In a recent proposal, the city’s chairman, Huynh Duc Tho, suggested the municipal People’s Council add two projects to a revised master plan on the socioeconomic development of the city until 2020 with a vision toward 2030.
As part of the horse-racing project, worth US$200 million, a stud farm will cover more than 93 hectares in the commune of Hoa Ninh, while a 42-hectare racetrack will be located in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward of Lien Chieu District. The project will allow betting on horse races.
The project will also offer the sale of broadcasting rights to local and international media partners.
Meanwhile, the 497-hectare hotel and golf course complex will be situated in the communes of Hoa Phong and Hoa Phu. It will comprise a 36-hole golf course and a complex of some 2,000 hotel rooms, 410 tourist villas, an ecotourism park and other entertainment facilities.
The project requires a total investment of more than US$1.7 billion. Construction work is set to begin this year and be completed by 2028.
City chairman Tho was quoted by Thanh Nien newspaper as saying that despite the availability of luxury tourism products, these products have not been diversified, especially for services aimed at international tourists.
He added that the city government is paying special attention to golf tourism. Also, an equestrian club will be set up, serving as a tourism product, to bolster local socioeconomic development.
Between January and October this year, the number of tourist arrivals to the city rose by 24% from a year earlier to some five million, and 60% of them were foreigners, according to Danang’s tourism department. SGT
