The six-year-old student was picked up on Tuesday morning by a 16-seat vehicle, with a driver and teacher, that was heading to Gateway International School in Cau Giay District.

At 4pm the same day, the family received the news that their child had not been present in class and had died.

According to a report from the school, the boy was found unconscious and pale on the bus on Tuesday afternoon.

The student was given first aid and rushed to Hospital E.

A parent of a student at the school, who took the boy to Hospital E, told vietnamplus.vn that the boy was found on the bus in the afternoon and was still breathing.

The school reported that the teacher, who was aware the student was missing from the class, reported his absence to the school’s management system.

The driver of the vehicle confirmed that the boy had been left and forgotten on the bus.

Tran Thi Hong Hanh, president of the managing board of Gateway School, accepted responsibility for the incident.

Le Van Son, the victim’s father, said Tuesday was the second day his son had gone to school for the new academic year.

An autopsy showed the boy had a blood clot in the brain and had suffered from suffocation. The exact time of death has not been determined.

The Gateway International School, invested in by Edufit Education Corporation, has two bases in Hanoi and Hai Phong City.

Pham Xuan Tien, deputy director of Hanoi’s Department of Education and Training, has ordered the Cau Giay District’s education and training division to work with the school and relevant agencies to conduct an investigation of the incident.
