The news was revealed at a press brief organized by the Department of Education and Training yesterday to announce the implementation of the city People’s Committee’s project “Supporting and developing childcares in private households around industrial and export processing zones”.

Under the project, the city authority will budget VND2.1 billion (US$90.359) for toys and school supplies. The total cost for the project is more than VND3.8 billion.

Speaking at the press brief, Vice Chairwoman of the Preschool Education Bureau Ly Thi Suong acknowledged that the city has finished surveying household daycare centers around industrial and export processing zones.

According to the plan, 60 private daycare facilities will be installed with surveillance cameras with toys and school supplies. Most daycare household establishments in the plan are located in districts Thu Duc, Tan Phu, Tan Binh and Nha Be.

Regarding the camera surveillance, the districts started signing contracts with the providers. Several schools will be installed with the cameras first to evaluate the efficiency before wide application.

Internet connection cost of VND350,000 will be covered by the City in the first months. Afterwards, schools will pay it. In case, private daycare facilities are dissolved, all camera and facilities must be taken back to supply to other centers.

Ms. Bui Thi Diem Thu from HCMC Department of Education and Training said that local administration should pay more attention to licensing and management of preschools in ten districts in the plan to win residents’ trust. SGGP
