Around 150 kilometers southwest of HCMC, Sa Dec Flower Village has been seen as the flower kingdom in the Mekong Delta and the country’s largest supplier of flowers for southern provinces during Tet.
The flower village is entering the busiest time of the year as local farmers are working from dawn to dusk to prepare their flower and bonsai plants for sale in the run up to the peak Tet season, Vietnam’s biggest and longest holiday, which has around two weeks to go.
This Tet, the village will provide the southern market with over 3 million baskets of flowers of about 2,000 types.
Mr. Chiem Duc Binh, 66, a flower grower in Tan Quy Dong District, said that this Tet his garden will offer more than 6,000 baskets of Chrysanthemum morifolium.
Binh's garden has attracted large numbers of visitors these days.
Thousands of people flock to the village to purchase flowers and to take pictures each day.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, a visitor from Can Tho City, told VietNamNet that she used to visit Sa Dec flower village before Lunar New Year holiday and this year is not an exception.
