Since December last year, South Korea has officially issued the five-year multi-entry visa for permanent residents of Hanoi, Danang and HCM City. The visa holders can stay in South Korea for up to 30 days, with no restrictions on the number of visits for five years.

According to Jeong Woo-jin, Consul General of South Korea in HCM City, demand for South Korean visas was on the sharp rise. So the visa application centre had been opened to partially ease overloading for the South Korean Embassy in Hanoi.

The centre would be responsible for processing applications, but the visa approval process would still be conducted by the embassy.

A South Korea visa application service was launched in HCM City in April this year.
