The Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union on September 2 held a collective wedding for 100 couples who are working in industrial parks, export processing zones and other facilities in the city and adjacent areas.

Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council congratulated the couples

The move aims to support low-incomes couples and those who suffer from labour accidents, unemployment and serious diseases and disabilities in celebrating their special life event.

Each couple was also presented with a pair of wedding rings, wedding dress and suit, a wedding photo album, and celebrative services, together with free health care voucher with a year of validity. A couple facing extreme difficult living conditions was also gifted with an apartment worth 20 million VND.

At the same time, they were also offered free training courses on skills to build a happy family.

On the occasion, the couples paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his statue in District 1, while joining a bicycle parade through major city streets.

So far, more than 500 couples have benefited from the mass wedding programme which was launched in 2006.
