108 traditional Japanese dolls on display at Hanoi museum

As many as 108 traditional Japanese dolls of various sizes and types such as girl dolls, male dolls, zodiac animal dolls, and fairy dolls are on display at the Vietnam Women's Museum in Hanoi.

The display is part of the Vietnam Women's Museum’s “Welcome Summer with Japanese Culture” event, which includes a series of activities focusing on the typical cultural features of the country of the rising sun such as display and introduction of traditional Japanese dolls; Ikebana flower arrangement display and experience; Wagashi cake making experience; Yukata wearing experience; and origami paper folding.

In addition to the doll display, visitors also have the opportunity to admire the Kimono, the Japanese national costume, and the floral works of Ikebana, a traditional Japanese art form of flower arranging with a history dating back to the seventh century.

In the exhibition space, there is also a special gift for children, which is a collection of interesting interactive activities with traditional Japanese toys such as: Kendama, Koma, Hanetsuki, Tako.

The event will end on June 14, 2022.

The event is being held in order to celebrate International Children’s Day on June 1 and is part of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties.
A seven-tier shelf features a wide collection of Hina dolls.
Various kimonos are put on show during the exhibition.
Visitors have the chance to enjoy an array of traditional Japanese toys at the event.

Visitors can also experience the taste of Japanese food, learn the art of Japanese flower arranging, as well as the art of paper folding Origami.
Wood toys go on display to help visitors learn more about Japanese culture.
