The National Traffic Safety Committee said that on February 7 (the third day of the Lunar New Year), 32 road accidents occurred countrywide, causing 15 deaths and 40 other injuries. In addition, a railway accident killed one person.

During the period, the traffic police force handled more than 2,000 cases of violation, fined nearly VND1 billion (US$43,000) and temporarily seized over 400 vehicles and 85 papers of all kinds.

Chief of the National Traffic Safety Committee's Office Nguyen Trong Thai said six-day statistical data has shown that traffic accidents had been less than expected.

Compared to the Tet holiday of 2018, the traffic accidents caused fewer deaths and injuries. In particular, there has been no serious accident reported.
