Dang Viet Dung, CEO of Uber Vietnam said, over the past year the number of drivers registered to join the Uber network rocketed, turning Vietnam into the second-fastest growing market of Uber in the world after China.

Dung said the number of drivers jumped from 300 at the end of 2014 to nearly 15,000 people at present. However, nearly 50% of the drivers operate frequently while the rest work part-time or even a few times a year.

In early 2015, the average waiting time of Uber passengers was five minutes but now it is only three minutes in HCM City and 3.5 minutes in Hanoi, just behind San Francisco (USA) with 2.5 minutes.

The average earnings of Uber drivers is VND85,000-VND100,000 ($4-$5) per hour.
