VietNamNet Bridge - At first, the 2-sim iPhone XS Max caught special attention from Vietnamese iPhone fans. However, the price of the version plunged after users experienced some problems.

The price of 2-sim iPhone XS Max has decreased

The first iPhone XS Max in Vietnam was brought from Singapore. This was a 512 GB version for at VND79 million. Just one day later, 2-sim iPhone XS Max sourced from Hong Kong arrived in Vietnam.

According to VnExpress, on September 21, the first 2-sim iPhone XS Max sourced from Hong Kong had the sky-high price of VND60-80 million.

On September 28, the price dropped to below VND30 million for 64 GB model. The 256 GB and 512 GB are now sold at VND33.5 million and VND42 million, respectively.

A representative of an iPhone shop on Le Hong Phong street in HCMC said on Zing.vn that the first days, more than 70 percent of customers chose to buy the iPhone XS Max with two physical sims, because this is the new feature of this year’s iPhone series.

“Vietnamese prefer 2-sim phones because they can use one sim for making/receiving calls, and use the other sim for accessing the internet.

However, since iPhone XS and XS Max from the US arrived in Vietnam, the market has witnessed big changes. The US version is more favorable.

“In principle, the quality of brandnew iPhones is the same in all markets. However, Vietnamese still prefer products from the US rather than China and Hong Kong,” said The Long, manager of a shop on 3 Thang 2 street in HCMC.

The price of the 2-sim iPhone version has dropped also because of the information that the 2-physical-sim version cannot work well in Vietnam.

Some people complained on an hi-tech forum that the machine is weak at catching waves. When users make calls, the phone will automatically interrupt an internet connection for 10 seconds.

In addition, users also complained that the machine doesn’t display the type of sim when receiving messages/calls.

Meanwhile, some people said they don’t intend to buy 2-sim iPhones because of the complexity.

“I think the 2-sim version is really inconvenient and more difficult to use,” said Bao Ngoc, a university student.

Zing.vn reported that 2-sim iPhone XS Max are priced at between VND31.4 million and VND46.2 million, or VND2-3 million lower than the US version.

Vietnamese now are rushing to buy iPhone XS Max, and are indifferent to iPhone XS. This is because iPhone XS has the design and screen size nearly the same with the ‘predecessor’ iPhone X, while the price is much higher.

“We still cannot sell any iPhone XS so far,” said Minh Tuan, the owner of a shop in HCMC.
